It is in this context that the Zimbabwean opposition can also learn from his extraordinary message that clearly finds resonance in Zimbabwe today.

Speaking after an unprecedented victory in 96% white Iowa, Obama said,
"We are not a collection of red states and blue states; we are the United States of America. We have shown here in Iowa that at a defining moment in history, Americans who love their country can come together whether they are Democrats, Independents and even Republicans to serve the American dream that is in peril"

A cursory look into the news web sites greeted me with a rather sour message. The two MDC factions are to unite and Tswangirayi is poised to be the leader of the new formation. This has left me wondering what will become of Zimbabwe when the sane, democratically minded people come into an outfit that is led by a despot in the making.

Dr Gono never ceases to amaze me, after crowding out news on the print and electronic media on an imminent solution to the cash crisis he has finally revealed what is in his ambit, nothing except the usual rhetoric that does not offer any help and hope to the Zimbabweans who have experienced economic malaise.
