A certain Albert in Alberton, JHB phoned “Radio 702” (which I listen to for most of the day) this morning (22 April, 2008) and said he had been speaking to his mum over the phone (she’s in Bulawayo) and she said its getting very, very rough.
The CIO planted some weapons between certain townships and are beating people saying the MDC had hidden them for use. He says its completely stupid because there are no more forests anywhere between townships - or anywhere else even (where anyone can hide anything.)
The CIO are also spreading junk that the ship that was seen at Durban (which had arms) ....the arms were actually meant for the MDC!
This smells of the very persecution that Dr Nkomo suffered in the 80s. Arms were planted by Mugabe's CIO and the rest is History.

It is very vital that the whole world should know that ZANU-PF has always had two faces. There is the face that is shown to the world and the face that the common man on the ground sees and brushes and inter-acts with.

We who have been part of ZANU-PF for all our adult lives can testify that ZANU-PF is a very dangerous organisation indeed. I will try to follow the bumpy journey that we have had with Mugabe and ZANU-PF since before the Independence of 1980.

It must be emphasized that Mugabe and ZANU-PF have always existed as some sort of under-dog. That is the underline that must never be ommitted.

Tsvangirai is ahead of Matibili (RGM) by 177980 votes!

The dilemma that Robert Mugabe is currently facing as an individual and ZANU (PF) as a party, is how to secure a re-run of the Presidential Elections without the election results being announced first!

Announcing the results, as they are, really amounts to conceding defeat thereby declaring Morgan Tsvangirai the New President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

The facts and figures, based on the Parliamentary results, are as follows: Total number of votes cast - 2 405 147If Morgan Tsvangirai got - 50,3% and his rival Robert Mugabe - 42,9%, what it means is that either Tsvangirai has to lose the 0,3% or Mugabe has to gain 7,1% of the total votes in order for there to be a re-run of the presidential elections.

The easier of the above options is to ensure that somehow Morgan Tsvangirai has to lose the 0,3% of the votes which translates to 722 votes. The question that then arises is how that can be successfully accomplished in view of the fact that all results from each polling station have been published. How many changes would ZEC have to make in order to reduce Morgan Tsvangirai's votes by the 722 votes.

Imagine the number of polling station results that need to be tempered with to deprive Morgan of the crucial number of votes. In conclusion; ZANU (PF) is now calling for a recount, not because they believe they got less votes that they should have obtained, but simply in order to manipulate the results so as to ensure that Tsvangirai loses the contentious 722 votes thereby securing a run-off and ultimately a re-run of the elections.

I do not envy ZEC staff as they are under immense pressure to achieve the impossible.

1) Who under the above circumstances can proclaim that ZANU (PF) does not know the results of the elections?

2) Who can deny the fact that Morgan Tsvangirai has won the elections and should be declared PRESIDENT!

FOLLOWING Simba Makoni’s decision to run for President on March 29, the time may be ripe for opposition faction leader Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara to pack in and run for parliament instead.

The agreed facts are that between October 25 and December 19 last year, Ms. Matika was instructed to complete Real Time Gross Settlement forms transferring money from the account of Nyamasoka Farming, a company allegedly owned by Butau. THE emergence of the Simba Makoni “initiative/project” has raised justifiable questions about the direction of the continuing quest by Zimbabweans to end the dictatorship of the ZANU-PF regime and usher in a genuinely democratic dispensation. One such question is: how should civic society relate to the initiative?

More fundamentally, should it be the business of civic society organisations to pronounce their preferences among contesting presidential aspirants? Thousands of Zimbabwe opposition women have been raped, or abused or beaten by police or government sponsored partisans. In march 2002 when I made gestures against corruption, state terrorism and refused to attend ZANU PF meetings (compulsory for all) my homestead was raided over night by State militias and the so-called War Veterans.

People of Zimbabwe, both those who support and those against the current systems, are biting their own ineptitude. The educated elite failed to effect change and appear to be making critique of those who are trying.

Most of those residing in the Diaspora are keeping to themselves with their families to enjoy the space. Instead of being a tactful retreat, most have become docile, preferring to cross into Zimbabwe in pomp, with a show of goodies to their destitute family members. Some don’t even want to be known as Zimbabweans.

The welcome entry of Dr Makoni into the political fray has generated intense mixed reactions. To some it has generated extraordinary excitement whereas to others it has meant skepticism.
I personally believe that Dr Makoni faces a mammoth task if the Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn project is to succeed. Politics is a game of strategy, structures and timing and Dr Makoni can still win it if he can craft the formula right but at the same time he can be buried for good if he miscalculates his move.
Like what Obama always say, a struggle against vested interests will not be easy .It will need a lot of ingenuity and several options and alternatives to build and sustain the momentum.
It is in this context that I honestly believe that Makoni faces a tough task. Will he be equal to the task? What strategies can he employ to victory?
