
South African President, Thabo Mbeki, flew into Harare yesterday intent on getting President Robert to sit face-to-face with the opposition leaders to iron out a solution to a deadlock in ongoing talks between the two parties.
By the time he departed he had dissuaded the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) from insisting on the postponement to a later date of Zimbabwe’s harmonized elections scheduled for March.
